Born in Mossvale NSW, she came to Yandina 1953. Her father, Frank played in the country week competition with Don Bradman.

Married in 1960 to Max Kretschmer, she had 3 boys, Robert, Mark and Kevin who all play still and are in the process of establishing a cricketing dynasty. She is a nervous crocheter while watching the boys play.
She worked for years fund raising to build the clubhouse and then
worked in the canteen from 1985 to 1999. She is famous around the coast for her
biscuits and cakes and is the devious mind behind the silly trophies at the
annual break-up dinner.
Both Max and Joy are still active working in the clubhouse and working
to improve the Kretschmer oval, named in honour of their value and achievements
for the club, a synthetic wicket where our juniors and 6th grade
play. Joy had the idea to grow a YCC sign on the bank at the back of the
Kretschmer oval in time for the upcoming “golden oldies” tournament from
Sheena’s Gold” and clip them into a hedge. These little touches help make the
area and club stand out from the other cricket grounds around the Sunshine
Coast.
She regularly attends games to watch our first grade side in which
Kevin still plays and is looking forward to the centenary celebrations and next
few years at Yandina Cricket Club Inc.
